I will be sharing ideas about ethical research practices as a white researcher studying Black and Indigenous performance via the “Field Relations” panel at this summer’s Association for Theatre in Higher Education’s conference in Austin, TX. The panel is Thursday, 8/3, from 10:30am-12pm. I will also be celebrating recent publications in Black Theatre scholarship with the Black Theatre Association on Thursday from 5-6:30pm!
I recently returned from the in-person symposium for the University of Virginia’s Sawyer Seminar “Reimagining the American Landscape: Race and the Future of Public History,” where I shared preliminary ideas from my next book project, Reparative Encounters: Universities, the Arts, and the Afterlives of Slavery. Sincere gratitude to the archivists, curators, scholars, and activists who gave feedback on these ideas and created a wonderful event.
